Your suggestion was a good one, but I am afraid this beyond simply chosing a relay. They have been on there 6 months and despite doing constant burnouts with them they show no signs of wear. In short to replace this requires removing the timing belt. This solenoid should be heard or felt clicking when the ignition is turned off then back on. It's working as a temporary carb for me until i can rebuild the original.
