Some of the causes of a P1311 on this model can be; Timing off - was a timing belt just installed? Has a little over 100,000 miles. It sucks that your 2nd hand Rodeo gave you problems but you didn't have a chance to take good care of it from the beginning like I did. They keep adjusting it instead of replacing it. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the transmission. Have reported this numerous times to isuzu service provider as car still under warranty not yet 120k.
And the warning light came on after it was too late. Also doing these visits I would complain about a possible transmission problem which was always ignored and not resolved. Dealer replaced fuel pump assembly. Apparently this is a common thing with this car. I'm thinking wire cutters, or black electrical tape over the light. This defect needs to be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer.
So, the next day, I took it to two other mechanics. If I had to guess the tranny is just getting hot and installing a cooler looks like a baby radiator sitting in front of your normal one might be able to extend the life of your transmission. Please let me know, I don't what else to do to fix miine. Can't diagnose those without taking out the tranny? It progressively became slower to accelerate when passing, changing lanes. The check,and fill plugs are in the pan. Have cooling system checked, cleaned, flushed, and new coolant installed.

I added the oil, started the engine, and no more sound. Part of the tranny rebuild was a new torque converter. You might have to replace the gas cap. This too needs to be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer. It was a very scary moment. Isuzu dealership refuses to acknowledge any problems. We purchased the car from courtesy Isuzu in brandon Florida. I really like it but it does not have a very good record for having only 6 months and it has been in the shop 2 of those months. We had the transmission rebuilt on Oct 1, 2013.
