I purchased a new tubo and it will be installed in 3 weeks at a auto service business. Only when you put the car into drive and also accelerate. The car started and thought it was fine. We had the timing chain replaced, and had 2 turbo replacements. Recording it is a waste of time. I wrote many letters to Mazda with no resolution.
The only thing you have to lose is your Lemon. I was googling the price of a replacement engine and this site came up. Mine was the showroom model car and it has been nothing but trouble for me for the past year. When the car died it began billowing smoke out the exhaust pipe and out from under the hood. My mechanic said he has never heard of a car losing compression so quickly. In September my engine blew. If my window is down - it is pretty loud - sounds like a marble getting shook in a can or something.
The first compressor went up in May 2013, 2nd just replaced May 2014. Well mazda covered it since there was a parts warranty on the turbo and it blew at exactly 1 year from the first time. My check engine light came on and flashed rapidly. Kimmel and Silverman Founding Partner, Lemon Law Attorney Bob Silverman has seen this in many of the cases he has handled and feels this type of conduct is outrageous and a clear breach of warranty. I have no clue what to do. I had driven my car earlier in the day, no lights, no sounds, no indication that anything was wrong at all.
On December 26, 2014 I took the car to Carmax one month later which was last week. My family could have died. You can use jumper wires to inspect this. We just had the timing chain, variable valve timing actuator, and oil cooler replaced in October 2016. Had this been explained to me, I never would have kept this car. My motor went out, and now I have no car… I Well guys Mazda has apparently claimed to identified the turbo oil leak and failure problem.
I should be good, right? This can easily be tested if the valve cover is off. I got news for them. There was even discussion about a recall on the timing chain from Mazda saying that it was defective but Mazda was not always honoring this recall. Considering the low miles, even though this is an 07, it should be in much better condition without all of these repairs. Without taking the engine down for an inspection, he believes that the timing chain may have slipped out of proper timing and that a valve in the 2 cylinder either bent as a result or is burnt. I am totally in for any class action lawsuits.
Believing that, I chose to keep the car. Needless to say, I was unable to get a rental car yesterday as they were all closed by the time I got finished at the mechanic!!! Mazda admitted that there is a problem and tried to fix it under warranty. This is a serious mechanical issue that should have been a recall not a 5k mile warranty extension. Many are having repeat failures with their Mazda turbocharger being replaced numerous times. Might be worth a try for others of you.
If my window is down - it is pretty loud - sounds like a marble getting shook in a can or something. I could try to record it but it's only while I'm driving and it's intermittent. It had 82k miles and the turbo and the timing chain replaced. I kept it serviced changing oil and filter every 10,000km and It started making a clicking noise whilst idling and accelerating so I got the worn pulley replaced followed by a new belt. Which he knew what I went though for 3 years of watching my husband suffer.
On a cold start up the varriable valve timing actuator vvt is sticking over advanced. The dealer stated that the vvt valve timing chain was defective and replaced the vvt valve timing chain. And besides, legally, Carmax finance owned the car. If your Mazda turbocharger or engine problems results in your car being in the shop repeatedly or for an extended period of time, or if you are being denied warranty coverage, to find out about your rights under State Lemon Laws and Federal Warranty Statutes. All symtoms consistent with everyone else.
Can the timming chain make a brand new water pump break? So much for reliable transportation!! He says my timing chain slipped so he bought a new one from Mazda, which he said is very flimsy and not worth the money. Needless to say, this experience has left me without a car while legally binded to continue to make almost 500 in payments. Mazda is not doing anything about it and trying to get out of the mess they created. They told me my throttle body was dirty. I did not notice a difference in the way the car was handling, however I took my car into my local Mazda dealer to have it checked.
