I dont know what to do! They were negligent in their duty to me as their customer. When I bought the terrain it run so smooth you did not even know it was running, then around 9-10 months ago this issue came up. I took the vehicle in for service and was told the service contract would not cover my issue and that the issue was caused by lack of maintenance, which is not the case as I maintain the oil in this vehicle and even had to purchase a new battery for the vehicle recently. Then I lose power steering and my speed is throttled down a lot. I felt that I had no choice but to agree as I need my vehicle. Engine would turn over but not start.
I didn't scratch the paint or hit anything. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed the problem I went to other mechanics who would not touch the vehicle and said this was a dealer issue and was advised that he has had a few customers with the same problem and I am not paying 2,000 for a part that has been known to cause problems but is not covered under warrenty. It would crank for 4-5 seconds and not start at all or start but idles really low like its going to die. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they added oil to the vehicle and also replaced the timing belt. Timing chain also had to be replaced.
The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Also died a few times when idling at a stop light. I had changed my oil back on 2-28-2017. This vehicle has had many codes show up on the monitor but when scanned no codes were able to be read, so no issues as they say. I will report this to everyone I know and warn them. As I understand it, this is a high pressure fuel system.
As a result, I had to get oil changes 3 times in a month. Had a few cars over the years and never had to replace one catalytic converter, two on a car that does not have alot of mileage and not included in the special coverage for the 2. The problem would occur with a cold or hot engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was running great nice and smooth then one day it started running rough to a small degree. They added 4 quarts before trying to diagnose the problem. The problem is that they just don't know and say it is a normal occurrence with these vehicles. Had to be towed to Dealer. Also this problem causes fuel to back leak into the oil pan causing thin oil. The manufacturer was notified and case number: 8-3863678608 was filed.
I has done this countless amount of times, even caught it on video numerous times only because every time I bring it in for the starting issue I always get there is nothing wrong with your vehicle, have a nice day. This time dealership bought a laptop to hook up to computer and actually drive vehicle. We have to check it daily to make sure it has oil and is safe for our daughter to drive it. All recalls that were listed which were the high fuel pump and carbon monoxide have been completed yet no change in vehicle. I have had to avoid many accidents due to people driving up on me because I should have been accelerating at the time but my car turned off.
The vehicle was not repaired. I have been doing my research and discovered that you stopped producing this engine for fuel efficiency reasons.
