This means that sometimes it will not send the signal to start the fuel pump. I have to slam the gas to eventually get it to start, if it cranks. It seems like the pattern is after jump starting, it'll start normally maybe 4-5 times, and then it happens again. At this point I am very frustrated and I don¿T feel safe driving this car until the issue is resolved. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
My van sometimes won't start because it kills the battery. Just the time spent getting it ready to jump caused the relay to decide to start working again. To me it seems like it's not getting power to some component that will make the van crank. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer advised that the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and diagnosis to determine the cause of the failure. After spending the money for a new fuel pump the van stopped working before we could even pick it up. I've finally contacted the corporate Chrysler customer service number and will be assigned a case manager. Chrysler is currently experiencing massive recalls for fuel pump issues.
I've been fortunate that I've never been completely stranded and have kept trying various combinations of using the ignition button and key fob until I finally get it started. I contacted the dealership and made an appointment to check out the problem they tried to tell me that its the start button that needed to be changed. . I'm a deployed service member and my wife and three children use this van. The next day, the car will not even turn over.
While attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to start. Pos battery connection the starter solinoid. Now I still cannot remove the key fob from the ignition nor is there any engagement from the ignition. Any time you cannot shut the fuel pump off you have a very hazardous condition. Vehicle started with no problem the previous day, problem occurred without any warning, no check engine light displayed on dash. All star Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram located at 11503 St charles rock rd, bridgeton, mo 63044, 314 291-2050 was contacted. Not every time, just once every 20 to 30 starts.
I was told to pull the fuse for the fuel pump until I can have the part replaced, which is tedious and that still don¿T work all the time. This part is common to several models and causes problems across model lines. After replacing the bulb and that not correct the issue my mechanic replaced the fuses and that did not solve the issue. It was not the fuel pump and after having my own mechanic replace the fuel pump, the tipm defect continued from the moment of the fuel pump repair. All the documentation that I have read points to the tipm so I believe that this is the cause. Electrical checks reveal nothing wrong with the electrical system, and there is power to the radio. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Had to get a jump and bring it to my mechanic. You all heard that correctly. He found that faulty fuel relays are very common in 2011-2013 vehicles, but Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge durangos were the only vehicles recalled and fitted with an external relay. I used the manual key to gain access to the vehicle. I got the sensor fixed and haven't had the problem since.
Once it started, it ran great. I code not pull any codes though. After extensive research I've found thre are many people with this same problem and similar vehicles with the same part have been recalled. Put new battery in, noticed sparking when hooking up positive lead to battery. You can get quite a jolt if you handle the wire while the car is being cranked. The manufacturer stated that they would escalate the case and call back. Took car to another dealer, was told the issue is with the new battery terminal and because the harness was cut.
The contact stated that the engine continued to run after the key was removed from the ignition. The vehicle started without symptoms as soon as the repaired tipm was installed. I'm hesitant to drive my van around anymore considering that I drive 3 children around constantly for activities. Crank your car and have someone watch for a blue spark. I have an escalation going on with my case worker demanding it be moved abouve her to a supervisor. In addition, the instrument panel started to flicker.
They have also suggested that having 2 key fobs could adding to the problem. Both of which are expensive repairs. Also, rear window vent switch was disconnected crown during summer of 2014. And touch the small wire lug with the screwdriver. If it spits at you again the pump is circulating fuel, if not then the pump is not functioning. The faulty ignition system will leave my family stranded.
Waiting for parts department to open on Monday. The odd thing is that the power windows work, the power sideview mirrors work, the radio and ceiling lights also work. This time the vehicle would not turn on. The failure mileage was 64,002. Problem reoccur ed and dealer checked out car, nothing found - intermittent problem. While the key was in the ignition, the vehicle would not start.
